Writer: Maria PopMaria Pop

Achievement and success connoted in movies :

In the movie legally blonde the feeling of success is expressed in a scene where the main character receives the results of her exam in order to be accepted into Harvard Law School.

The characters body language and positioning in the frame connotes success as she is surrounded by her friends and jumps around in excitement, screaming and being hugged and congratulated as she worked very hard to achieve the specific grades in order to apply.

The scene is placed in her sorority, Elle Woods (the main character) enters the house, everyone surrounds her and give her the results, she turns around facing her friends, her facial expression represents shock and she bursts out into happiness, screaming, with loud music in the background and confetti being thrown from above. The lighting is realistic and there are many nuances of pink as the girls in the sorority are portrayed and stereotypical blondes that only care about looks and style, that is why the scene was so important in order to break down those stereotypes, showing that blondes are not dumb and that the girls are not competing with each other, they are shown as supportive and excited for their friend who worked very hard to achieve her goals.
