For my preliminary work I will be creating a short montage ( short music video ), in order to practice editing and filming a music video. I will also be creating a Vinyl Cover, so I will practice my photoshoot skills.
Short Montage
Song: Just Me and You - The Dreamliners
The song has a very old hollywood kind of feel so I want the model, which will be my sister Ana Pop to be dressed in a nice long gown/dress and wearing red lipstick. She will be portrayed in a very elegant manner.
The music video will not follow the direct message of the song - it’s not based on the lyrics. The idea for the video is my interpretation of the feeling that I get from the song.
1st Scene : Picking up the Chanel nr. 5 perfume bottle and then ‘prezenting it’ to the camera.
2nd Scene: Spraying the perfume on herself.
3rd Scene : Arranging herself (her hair), sitting on the side of the desk and then looking into the camera.
4th Scene : Looking into the mirror.
5th Scene : Puts on her lipstick. It will be shot from behind - she will be putting on the lipstick while looking into a small mirror and I will start from filming behind her and then zooming into the small mirror.
6th Scene: The model will be dancing on top of the desk .
End Scene : The model will gradually look directly into the camera as the camera is zooming in on her face and she will show a slight smile. This scene will end with a circle close transition - in order to mimic old movies.
The order of the scenes will most likely change during the editing process, however I wanted to make myself a sort of guideline to abide to while filming.
Song: Just Me and You - The Dreamliners
Type of music video: Interpretive/Conceptual
Location: My apartment
Model: Ana Pop
Props:
- Costume (dress)
- Chanel Nr. 5 perfume bottle
- Lipstick
- Small mirror
Filter: After looking through the iMovie setting I decided that I will want to use the ‘Aged film’ filter.
The Vinyl Cover
For the Vinyl Cover I will try and do 3 photoshoots in order to have a variety to choose from.
Model for photoshoots: Ana Pop ( I will be using the same Model for my photoshoot as I will try to maintain the same style as the Music Video, however this might change and I might use a different song for the vinyl cover ).
1st Photoshoot: The model will be dressed in a costume including just a long coat ( black )
The model will have her hair up and might be wearing lipstick.
The location will be on a velvet couch.
2nd Photosoot: In order to match the style of the music video the model will be pictured in lying down next to the Chanel nr. 5 perfume bottle.
3rd Photoshoot: In order to have some diversity the model will be dressed in something more colorful and ‘crazy’, possibly with smeared lipstick and looking in a distraught manner. I would like to have the location possibly on the floor, next to a door.
Back Cover
I discovered that the conventions of the back of a vinyl cover are:
1. The name of the artist
2. Sometimes the name of the album
3. Sides 1 & 2 of the disc - the names of the songs
4. Name of the record label
5. The year it was produced
6. The band website
7. Where it was produced
8. Other technical and production details
Moodboard
I made a sort of moodboard/inspiration folder for my project. I tried to find photos that had filters and effects that resemble the style that I'm going for with my project.
The close up and eye contact with the camera shots represented in the GIFs are something that I will definitely be trying in my short montage.
